Projects

Artemis Fund, Inc. organizes an extensive and diverse array of projects. Our current efforts seek to raise awareness about issues important to women's rights and safety, promote public education and response, create community and support among women, and catalyze legal initiatives to support women's safety and justice.

Our Voices Matter

Our Voices Matter (OVM) is a new online project that provides a safe space for survivors to give voice to how prostitution, pornography, and trafficking have impacted their lives. OVM aims to shatter silences, create healing, raise awareness and incite action. OVM is an assertion that women and children matter; that a day when women and children are not bought and sold is worth fighting for; and that real social change is imperative to actualizing this goal. The website includes written, audio, and video testimony as well as artwork and other creative mediums. To learn more or to share your story, please go to the Our Voices Matter website at www.voicesmatter.org.

Rain and Thunder: A Radical Feminist Journal
of Discussion and Activism

Rain and Thunder: A Radical Feminist Journal of Discussion and Activism is a grassroots publication created and distributed by a collective of radical feminist women. Started in 1998, Rain and Thunder provides a space for radical feminist thought, analysis, creativity, activism, and resistance to flourish. The Rain and Thunder Collective seeks to bring to the forefront the voices, issues, politics, and struggles of radical feminist women everywhere. The publication comes out quarterly and is available at a sliding scale subscription rate. Go to the Rain and Thunder website at www.rainandthunder.org.

Not For Sale Media Project

Not For Sale Media Project is a mobilization of feminist media makers and grassroots activists that are creatively challenging the mass media's normalization of prostitution, pornography, and other forms of sexual abuse by creating and distributing alternative media. The aim is to create alternative forms of media that encourage individuals and communities to think more critically about the buying and selling of women's bodies; the commodification of sex and sexuality; impacts on individuals and groups of people; and alternative visions of sex and sexuality free of power abuse, violence, and hierarchy. GAD Support Committee

The GAD Support Committee is an effort to provide support to women and girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) who have experienced rape and other forms of sexual violence. Tens of thousands of women and girls have suffered systematic rape and sexual assault since the devastating conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) began in 1998. Rape has become a hallmark of the conflict, with armed factions often using it as part of a calculated strategy to destabilize opposition groups, undermine fundamental community values, humiliate the victims and witnesses, and secure control through fear and intimidation. Artemis Fund, Inc. is working with Groupe D'Action pour le Droit (GAD), a NGO in the DRC whose mission it is to promote and protect human rights, to generate U.S. support for rape survivors' rights and medical needs, particularly access to sanitary pads.
